Ara and I are in New York taking in our last breath of western civilization for July. I divided my day between B&H which is the worlds most fabulous photography store and the Metropolitan Museum of Art where I was fascinated by an exhibit called "Models as Muse" which beautifully traces the history of the modeling industry from the 1940's onward. It sounds trivial, I know, but from a photographer's point of view it is quite relevant.
Meanwhile, my contacts on the ground in Tanzania have become somewhat "iffy". We will be fending for ourselves in Dar es Salaam but I know the place well enough by now that we'll be OK. I'm sure the road to Sumbawanga has not changed and we will find our own way to the bus. I'm anxious to get started and will spend the evening checking equipment and making sure all is in order.
